Quizbox is another new entertainment company in London, giving a group of friends the chance to step into the ring and test their trivia knowledge against each other.
A boxing ring with podiums inside it serves as the game room, and groups get to voice some preference regarding themes for the trivia, though it is largely general trivia with a few fun game mechanics sprinkled in. On top of the trivia questions, players get to steal points from each other, block others from gaining points, and a few other special mechanics that raise the competitiveness of the game.
The different rounds do provide a variety of themes, but work very similarly. Unfortunately the giant buzzers aren’t used very often, relying on a touch screen instead to select answers. It can be quite loud and overwhelming, as the room is very dark with bright spotlights, and booming sounds throughout. While they advertise their game for up to 12 people, there are only 6 podiums, so people need to pair up if there’s more than 6 at a time. The Camden venue is definitely wheelchair accessible, with a tablet instead of the podium with a buzzer for those who cannot stand for the duration of the game.
Overall, it was a very fun game experience and is definitely worth the entry price for an hour of game show fun, though lacks a bit of the variety other similar game venues have. I’d personally recommend to play with 4-6 players at a time unless you’re okay with teaming up in pairs for each podium.
