Bigfoot Ripped My Dog In Half I Saw It is currently running at the Soho Theatre until 26th September. Written and performed by Xhloe & Natasha, it’s a dynamic physical show set in a small Appalachian town, where two teenagers fake Bigfoot sightings to get out of trouble. Quickly rumours spiral into a full blown panic that has the town in a tight grip with unexpected consequences.
The show combines physical theatre with clowning, absurdist comedy, and a good dose of social commentary. Structured almost like a sketch show, the narrative jumps from character to character, allowing the audience to become familiar with the quirky inhabitants of this town, all falling over each other with stories of what they’d witnessed.
Xhloe & Natasha expertly craft a wide variety of characters, each with their own accents, mannerisms, and postures. It’s easy to tell the townsfolk apart, though both performers switch between portraying many of them. A brilliantly thorough study of character development and portrayal that makes it highly entertaining to watch the duo switch from one to the other.
With very few props, the show relies mostly on storytelling and physical comedy, effortlessly creating a world full of movement and humour. The whirlwind show manages to balance fun and social observation, bringing a dynamic comedy that looks at how people react under pressure and interact in their familiar surroundings.
This hilarious, high energy comedy is definitely worth your time, combining puppetry, clowning, and physical theatre for a brilliantly entertaining show!
