Another Mischief show in the West End! The Comedy About Spies is currently running at the Adelphi theatre until the 26th September before going on tour, and is well worth a visit.
A rogue British agent with secret project papers that could change the world, ruthless KGB agents planning secret meetings to get their hands on the papers, and a hapless CIA agent desperately trying to intercept them all converge on London’s Piccadilly Hotel for a fast paced spy adventure. Throw in a clueless couple on a working holiday, and an actor preparing to audition for the role of James Bond, and you have a delicious mix of mistaken identities and high stakes espionage shenanigans.
In typical Mischief fashion, there is a plethora of laugh-out-loud moments stuffed into a hilariously silly plot. From the obvious jokes of mistaken identities and accidental item swaps, to surprising sidebars and slow-motion high energy fight scenes, this show really has it all.
With a gorgeous stage design that draws from vibrant comic imagery and art deco design styles, it’s a feast for all the senses. Sliding set pieces interact perfectly with ridiculous characters in perfect harmony, leading to a well paced, thoroughly entertaining comedy stuffed to the brim with humour.
If you like Mischief’s style of humour, this one will definitely delight! Another triumph for the funniest theatre company out there!
