The Murdér Express is still running from Pedley Street Station (in Bethnal Green) to Murdér in France, transporting the world’s largest diamond, the Jewel of the Empire across the channel. This was my second visit to the immersive dining experience, almost seven years after the first! Thanks to my very poor memory, I recalled very little of the story and was able to enjoy it all over again.
Step into the 1930s for a luxury train journey like no other! Dr. Errol Earhart has discovered the Jewel of the Empire in India and brought it back to England for the Von Cleethorpes, who now want it transported across to their estate in France. Along the way, guests are served a three course meal while being treated to an entertaining murder mystery with a host of colourful characters.
The sets for the show are still as gorgeous as I remembered them, a beautiful train platform with a bar to welcome guests and introduce them to the main characters before boarding the lush train to enjoy a beautiful meal. The food changes seasonally, caters for dietary requirements, and a children’s menus is now also available.
The thorough theming really helps get into the mood, with plenty of character interactions and hilarious ridiculousness to entertain the audience between courses. Lush food paired with comfortable seating and great theatre is such a brilliant way to spend an evening. The actors take great care to spread their attention amongst the guests, and even the front of house and serving staff get into character and make every guest feel like the main character.
The Murdér Express is a really fun destination for friends, families, and very memorable dates. I’ll definitely be back again in the future!
