Sam Hickman is back with a brand new show, First Woman, running at The Queer Comedy Club until 7 July before heading to Brighton Trans Pride the following week, and the Edinburgh Fringe later in August.
Hickman brings her signature flair of filthy glamour to the stage with this very personal show revolving around love, womanhood, and religious trauma. With just her harp and strong operatic vocals, she journeys through a performance that merges comedy and music effortlessly, delighting the audience with plenty of fourth-wall breaking humour and personal anecdotes.
Part harp concert, part cabaret show, part stand-up comedy, First Woman is a creative glimpse into the mind of a singer and songwriter who easily gives in to the urge of turning their life into a musical spectacle. With deeply intimate thoughts woven into touching melodies injected with humour, the focus lays on Hickman’s life and experiences, presenting a somewhat autobiographical soundtrack that stays relatable and unique in equal measure.
Hickman once again presents a very enjoyable, very queer, and very sexy show, this time a little more tender but still filled with her sparkling personality. An incredibly entertaining hour full of glamour, humour and harp music.
