The Death of Dr Black by Andrew Stannard Magic is currently playing at the Camden Fringe. You can catch it on the 8th and 9th August at the Libra Cafe Theatre, and the tickets are more than worth their price!
Dr Black is dead, the killer is still at large, and Magician Detective Stannard is investigating the case. This immersive magical murder mystery is a brilliant magic show with some very surprising and clever tricks.
Stannard leads through the show confidently, using very illustrative language to lay out the very Cluedo-esque story, selecting audience members to become suspects and involving may others in the narrative. From card tricks to predictive magic there are plenty of breathtaking tricks woven into the story, leading to an intriguingly entertaining act full of surprises. It’s just as much fun trying to work out how the illusions are achieved, or how a full size rubix cube made it into a small glass jar, as it is to try to predict what will happen next.
Intrepid showmanship mixed with impressive magic skills make The Death of Dr Black a brilliantly constructed show full of clever ruses and illusions. Andrew Stannard has crafted a cleverly unique show that will amaze audiences of all ages. If you only see one show this Camden Fringe, make it this one!
