Jordan Brookes’ most recent show, Fontanelle, is currently running at the Soho Theatre until 1 March. With the tag line “definitely a musical”, this is a rambling mayhem of a show, packed with surprises, mismatched sidebars, and deep insights.
Starting out as a musical about the Titanic, the show quickly reveals itself to be much more than that. Delving into humanity’s need to sensationalise and capitalise on tragedies, contemplating traditional and modern expressions of masculinity, pondering mental health and human connections.
It’s an amalgamation of talking points and comedic asides, blending a wild mix of entertainment into a chaotic show that has a lot to say. Interacting with the audience, there is a lot here to take away, while providing laughter and levity despite some dark and grim topics touched on.
Fontanelle is a joyous and varied comedy show that goes deep under the surface to connect and entertain, wrapped in a hilarious musical pandemonium of a show.
