Hold on to your Butts, currently running at the Arcola Theatre until 21 December, is a hilarious, high octane parody of the greatest dinosaur movie of all time! Scene for scene, the duo of actors race through the plot while being supported with a fantastic foley artist elevating the performance to absolute genius level comedy.
With very minimal props, this hilarious satire achieves one of the most hilarious 75 minute performances I have ever had the privilege to witness. Using just a few costume pieces, characters come to life while the duo of actors switch between them at break-neck speed. Simultaneously, the foley artist supports and challenges them in equal measure, to the great delight of the audience.
A piece of utter chaos, yet sticking to the film plot with extreme care, this is a feat that can only be accomplished by superfans of the source material. And this shows through in every single scene, radiating into the audience that is repeatedly left breathless from laughter.
The creativity and imaginative use of props, role switching, and minimal clothing pieces to represent characters, and of course the effortless humour exhibited even when important props didn’t want to quite co-operate, are absolutely astounding and incredibly entertaining.
Be prepared for upROARious laughter, and definitely hold on to your butts, this is a wild ride! An utter delight for any fan of Jurassic Park and a must-see this festive season!
