The Wind In The Willows is such a beautifully silly story for children, and seeing it in a somewhat immersive version at the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew sounded like a delightful outing in the summer holidays!
The show starts at the top of the lake in Kew Gardens, so make sure you arrive with plenty of time to walk through the gardens to the right location. Bring a blanket and picnic and settle in to the start of the play right by the lakeside.
The characters immediately involve the children in the action and invite us along on their adventure. With songs and chants we get introduced to all the characters and the start of the story, before we head over to Toad Hall for the second half. Again, the children get involved and have plenty of chances to interact and become part of the story. And those who do not want to join in, can just lounge on their blanket and watch.
This production is very fun and of course child oriented, but plenty of entertainment for the adults present as well. It’s a spirited, funny, contemporary production of this beloved children’s story that is sure to get everyone into the summer spirit!
