Nye is a whirlwind new play all about the life and achievements of Aneurin ‘Nye’ Bevan, one of the most influential politicians in the UK.

When Nye is confronted with his own death, in critical condition in a hospital bed, his mind takes him on a journey through his life. From early beginnings as the son of a coalminer, to creating the NHS, he revisits all the pivotal moments of his life.

Part biography, part political history, Nye is a fast-paced show packed to the brim with surprises. With a minimal but highly effective set mostly based on a hospital aesthetic, fantastically cohesive choreographies, and even an unexpected musical number, this touching play is storytelling at its very best. Michael Sheen is absolutely brilliant in the role of Nye, passionately portraying the coalminer turned politician. With a revolving cast taking on many of the other roles on rota, it’s a beautiful piece that turns politics into a moving portrait of a life that has touched so many and changed the welfare of millions of people. Personal and historical theatre at its very best.
