The star-studded Plaza Suite, currently playing at the glamorous Savoy Theatre, is a comedy in three acts. Set entirely in suite 719 of the New York Plaza Hotel in the late 1960s, each act sees a different couple navigating an emotional situation.

The set is beautifully constructed, showing a sitting room and bedroom divided by a dark red line going right through the middle of the stage, with a gorgeous view over the New York skyline through several windows. The suite is decorated in elegant 60s decor, with floral designs and gold trimmings. A few decor items are added and removed for the different scenes, but the suite itself remains unchanged. From a long-married couple fighting over infidelity, over a Hollywood producer rekindling interest in his high school sweetheart, to parents trying to convince their daughter to not call off the wedding while her soon-to-be husband and a large gathering of guests wait downstairs, each scene has its unique characters and human connections to grapple with.

Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are a fantastic team in this play, effortlessly passing the action back and forth, and carving out distinct characters for each of the three acts. While there is an underlying air of tragedy in these relationship stories, the scenes are absolutely hilarious, leaving the audience with levity and joy at the end of the show. A great production that is definitely worth seeing.
