Having seen last year’s production of Mark Gatiss’ adaptation of A Christmas Carol, I absolutely had to go back to see it again. This version of the story really leans into the ghost story side, adding a hefty dose of spooky to the beloved classic.
With a looming set, wafting fog, and gorgeous light work, it’s a feast to behold. I love the subtle changes to the story to make it more gritty without taking the soul of the story away. The ghostly additions really elevate and make this production stand out. There were no major changes from last year, and I again very much enjoyed seeing this show, despite having to put up with a woman sitting near me absolutely yowling along to the carol singing at the end of the show. But even that didn’t crush my Christmas spirit!
