Antic Disposition’s A Christmas Carol

Antic Disposition’s A Christmas Carol

Middle Temple Hall
4.5 out of 5.0 stars

I finally made it to one of Antic Disposition’s shows at the Middle Temple Hall. A Christmas Carol staged in a suitably moody building. The Middle Temple Hall is part of an over 450 year old building complex in the heart of London, virtually unchanged by time. The wood panelled hall with its many coat of arms, stained glass windows, original features from the 1500s, and generous court-style seating, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a beautifully put together A Christmas Carol musical performance.

This one was probably the most magical and touching version of my favourite Christmas story I saw this year. The ensemble was through the bank fantastic, combining playing the music and singing thematic carols with jumping from role to role, costume to costume, to bring the story to life.

With some imaginative audience interaction, including Scrooge throwing (chocolate) gold coins into the audience after his big epiphany that wealth is to be shared, it’s a delight to be in the room for, I’ll definitely try to grab tickets for this very special tradition again next year!
