At first I was a bit hesitant to book this one, without any young children to take with me I wondered if it would be odd to shop up as an adult to this kids show. But as a huge fan of the Winnie The Pooh characters and stories, I couldn’t pass up the chance to see this new musical adaptation.

And it turned out that my worries were completely unfounded, the audience was at least half unaccompanied adults who just wanted to re-live childhood memories and enjoy an adorable puppet musical. So I settled in to my front row seat and just enjoyed the show!

The set was gorgeously constructed, right out of a story book and brought to life with painted details and a forest soundscape. The middle of the stage prominently showed the large tree where Pooh often waits for Christopher Robin, with the little bridge beside it, a large honey tree to one side, Rabbit’s garden to the other.

Of course the puppets were the make-or-break of this show! And they absolutely made it! Beautifully constructed, the large and whimsical puppets were truly perfect, with their familiar looks designed after the Disney adaptations. The voice acting of the cast was particularly impressive, getting the adorable animal voices just right.

A beautiful children’s show that’s a delight for adults to watch as well. If you have young children, or just really love Winnie and his friends, get yourself down to the Riverside Studios to take in this beautiful little show!
