If you know me, you know that I love both Sherlock Holmes, and A Christmas Carol. So when I heard that the Marylebone Theatre is hosting a production combining the two, I knew I had to take a look and see it for myself!

A Sherlock Carol is only running until 7th January, so if you want to see it, hurry up and book immediately.

So, how did they mash these two things together?

Expertly! Honestly, it is done so well, this was definitely my favourite Christmas Carol of the five I saw live on stage this December.

Moriarty was dead, to begin with. But of course his spirit haunts Sherlock, who recently returned from the Reichenbach Falls tormented and disillusioned. When he is asked to solve a locked-room-mystery surrounding the death of one Mr. Scrooge, beloved Christmas-cheer-devotee and philanthropist, and the theft of a famous diamond, he must confront his own disbelief when confronted with spirits of the past, present, and future.

A dark Christmas eve, many familiar characters from both worlds, Christmas cheer and a puzzling mystery to be solved, this mash-up really has it all. Lovingly crafted to stitch the worlds of Dickens and Doyle together seamlessly, it’s delightful to watch. With quotes from both stories weaving a new, intriguing narrative, it’s sure to entertain fans and casual observers alike.

A passionate cast whirls through a variety of characters to continually test Sherlock’s staunch beliefs, a simple set that works so well in portraying a multitude of locations with just a few alterations here and there, a perfectly presented Christmas show that is thoroughly enjoyable!

An instant new seasonal favourite, I hope it will come around again every year as I’d love to incorporate it into my personal tradition of watching Christmas Carol in many different variations each December.
