I’d heard so many good things about this piece’s run at the Old Red Lion two years ago, I really didn’t want to miss it coming around again, so I headed down to the Southwark Playhouse to see what all the hubbub was about.

Instructions For A Teenage Armageddon follows a young girl as she navigates grief, friendships, her parent’s divorce, puberty, love, loss, abuse, and trying to find herself. It’s intense and contains many pivotal and disturbing moments, but so engagingly told from a teenager’s perspective, it’s fascinating and moving and never dull for even a second.
Many struggles depicted in this play will be familiar to anyone who has ever been a teenage girl. Repackaged with humour and wit and expert timing, Rosie Day absolutely captivates the audience with this coming of age tale.

A wonderfully touching and intense play that showcases the glibness and stoic approach many teenagers show towards traumatising events in their young lives, a brilliant production full of turns and disappointments, but ending in hope, growth, and a rediscovery of the self. I can see why it is so popular with audiences!
