Now this is a very interesting game! Adventure Games – The Dungeon is more akin to a simplified role playing game. So if DnD always seemed a bit too intimidating for you, or you just feel like playing something a little less complex but with loads of surprises and possibilities, this is the kind of game for you. It can be played alone or with up to 4 people and the playing style reminded me a lot of the old 90s point&click adventure games!

You take over one of the four supplied characters and get thrown right into the story. Location cards show you where you are, and a simple number system lets you combine items with locations or each other. There are so many ways you can decide your own story, this game definitely has replay value! Adventure Games also come with an app that makes game play a lot more fun, as you do not have to read the thick game book yourself, but can have it read to you!

The voice recordings are really well done and help set the mood. Plot wise, this definitely reminded me of DnD campaigns I have played in the past. You wake up in a dark dungeon with no memory of how you got there, locked into a small cell. From there you try to break your way free and discover the story of what happened to you and your friends. I really loved the game play and plot development of The Dungeon, and immediately bought the other two Adventure Games boxes to try those out too!
