This game box starts with a simple yet well known horror film premise. Your car breaks down in the middle of nowhere, but you find an abandoned cabin and use it for shelter for the night. However, the next morning the door is locked and you are trapped. You find a strange book and have to solve the riddles and find clues to escape before the cabin owner returns.
As with all Kosmos Exit games, this one comes with a decoder disk, a stack of riddle cards, a stack of answer cards, several 3-card stacks of help cards and a few “strange items”. Through using the book and disk, I found my way through the traps and plot points to escape the cabin in time. There were a lot of fun riddles and this game just had a great flow to it. Everything seemed quite obvious or easy to determine and I flew through the entire box in just under 45 minutes with no hints needed.
The Abandoned Cabin is definitely on the easier side of Exit games, but still a lot of fun to play. This would be a good one to start out with to get to know the mechanics of the game play. It was one of my favourite escape games I’ve played on my own so far!
