A few weeks ago, I gathered a few friends to go on a socially distanced walking tour. Access All Areas Theatre: still, here has created the audio exhibition Still, Here across Hackney, released on the day Hackney Carnival would have been celebrated.
Created by autistic and learning disabled artists to explore their experiences and challenges throughout lockdown.
At each of the 8 stops we got to listen to an audio clip relating to the immediate area the stop is located in. Taking us from London Fields to Homerton, we heard from a variety of artists speaking about challenges, experiences and hope for the future.
Unfortunately one of the stops had been vandalised and we were unable to find the bright egg-yolk-yellow placard. Luckily all information was also available online, so we were indeed able to continue our walk and access all the audio and video snippets for this stop.

It’s a beautiful experience that you can schedule for yourself, there’s no need to book or prepare. Simply show up at Hackney Town Hall and scan the first QR code. There are maps and directions provided and all the audio clips also come with video captions. The trail is fully accessible for wheelchairs and mobility scooters and is completely outdoors.
I’d definitely recommend catching this audio tour while it’s still on until the 31st October.
