The Polka Theatre was hosting a co-production with the Royal Opera to introduce young children to musical theatre. Recommended for children from 2-5 years, this musical journey is an absolute delight.
Introducing a variety of instruments and rhythms wrapped up in a beautiful story following an egg on its way to hatch, this sensory experience is wonderful for small children. I would say this is accessible for 1-4 year olds, as there are no words apart from “hatch” in this production, and the story isn’t so much a storyline as more a way to introduce a variety of sensory experiences wrapped up in sounds and movements.
This production is fantastic for the development of young children and a great way to get them interested in music and theatre.
I absolutely loved this production but wish there was a least a small interactive part for the children to participate. Four and a half stars for this rare and beautiful staging for the youngest theatre enthusiasts.
