Love pop-ups London invited me along to this one, so I gathered with the other attendants in Croydon to find out what this was all about.
We had all received confusingly interesting emails detailing a secret research mission and were curious and excited to find out what this immersive horror theatre would bring.
As specified in the correspondence leading up to the event, we approached the nervous looking gentleman with the hard hat and said the password. He immediately led us into the Croydon Town Hall building where his irate colleague rushed him on. It was evident that this will be a very immersive show indeed.
We received a short briefing after which we were instructedto dress in safety gear, which consisted of a coverall, gloves, a hard hat, and a breathing mask. We looked pretty ridiculous, but absolutely felt like part of a paranormal investigation team, it was brilliant.
Both actors played their roles, the awkward and nervous good guy and the aggressive and mistrusting dodgy guy respectively, with enthusiasm and conviction. We definitely felt caught up between these two characters.

Subsequently we were led into a dark, dusty corridor with a few items and very little lighting strewn about. I don’t want to give away too much of the plot, but it is creepy, bizarre, immersive and wholly enjoyable!
If you like creepy horror, paranormal stories and immersive theatre, you absolutely need to go and experience this one, it’s unnervingly good.
